Writing Assignments

important

This week we are writing our first supporting reason paragraph for our opinion essays.

Writing Assignment - week of january 11 - january 15

opinion essays

We are going to continue discussing how an opinion essay is structured. An opinion essay is organized into 5 parts:

  1. Introduction paragraph
  2. Reason 1 paragraph
  3. Reason 2 paragraph
  4. Reason 3 paragraph
  5. Conclusion paragraph

But don't panic. We will take this process step by step.

So, this week, we will be writing the SECOND reason paragraph.

We will review how to write a reason paragraph in class on Tuesday.  Basically it will be the same pattern as you did last week. But it will be about another reason. It will still need a transition, a topic sentence, and convincing details. I will model my own example. Then, on THURSDAY we will meet in our small groups and I will help you finish your second reason paragraph.

You will work on the second reason paragraph on  the same  Google Doc Slide we used last time. This is posted on Google Classroom. Just like before, you will be able to find your own slide to work on. You don't need to name it and it is automatically shared.

It is due on Friday, January 15.

We will be working in the following groups.

Group Cougars - 9:00 to 9:30

Arnav, Kanato, Abby, Adam, Audrey, Chloe, Jeevesh, Akshath, Leo

Group Foxes - 9:30 to 10:00

Sidd, Zainab A, Keira, Kevin, Sorpana, Summer, Ira, Max

Group Hawks - 1:00 to 1:30

Nicole, Simrita, Samyuktha, Zainab N, Ellee, Louis, Anna, Pranavi

Group Bears - 1:30 to 2:00

Charlie, Atharva, Tejas, Jeremy, Siddharth,, Jovi, Vishrudh, Sahasra
