stuff to know about 4th grade

looking ahead to 4th grade

new beginnings

weekly communication

new beginnings

Dear 4th graders:

Are you feeling a little nervous about being a 4th grader?

New beginnings can be hard.

And it WILL be a lot different from 3rd grade.

BUT...these won't be different:

1.  You will have a teacher who cares about you!

2.  You will have lots of friends around you.

3.  You will all be getting used to changes together!

4.  And we will have lots of FUN together this year!

this website

weekly communication

new beginnings

There will be LOTS of communication! This website will be one of the main ways that I communicate about what is happening at school.

It will have information about schedules, how to contact me, what is happening at school, curriculum, supplies needed, general announcements etc.

Stay tuned...

weekly communication

weekly communication

Each week I will send home (and post on the website)  our weekly newsletter.

This is called The Listening Post.

In this newsletter, I will list all the homework assignments for each day of that week.

I will also explain specific assignments and units.

It will also provide scheduling information such as field trips, assemblies, activities etc.

let's stay in touch

I believe it is critical to communicate and build relationships.

I typically communicate via email: eller_ruth@cusdk8.org

This works well as I am not able to answer the phone when I'm teaching.

I check email a lot and you can expect a reply in less than 24 hours. Sometimes within an hour!

I try not to go home until I've answered all parent emails.

I also welcome meeting together. We can set up a time to meet via email. I am available before or after school on most days. You are all very important to me!

You're a big kid now!

4th Graders:

Did you know you have moved from Little Kid Island to Big Kid Island?

The class will be a little bigger.

You will be expected to be more independent.

But don't worry!

I've got you! I promise!

staying organized

As a big kid, your student will be learning how to be more independent, and how to stay organized.

Two things they will use to help is:

1.  The Blue Folder. This folder goes home and back to school every day. It holds homework, notes from home, field trip money etc.

2.  The Lincoln Agenda. This is used every week to write down assignments and weekly events etc. This is an important resource to help everyone remember stuff!
